Frequently Asked Questions – Chemical Peel
What are Chemical Skin Peels?
Chemical peels are one of the more commonly used agents in skin rejuvenation. Treatment involves applying a chemical agent to the skin, producing a “controlled injury” which leads to skin rejuvenation.
Peels vary in depth from superficial to deep. The deeper the peel the greater the potential for skin rejuvenation but also for down time and side effects.
What are they used for?
Chemical peels are used to improve the tone and texture of the skin. They can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles as well as pigmentation. They can also help control acne although they would not be considered first line for this purpose.
What are the side effects?
Side effects are very much dependant in the depth of the peel. Superficial peels produce transient skin redness lasting up to a few hours. Deeper peels may produce shedding or peeling of the skin and more prolonged redness.
If you are having a peel to prepare for a big occasion, do discuss the best timing of your treatment with your Doctor.
What does it cost?
Individual skin peels at Quinn Clinics in Bristol (Clifton) or London (Blackheath, Greenwich) cost £60 with a reduction in price if a course is bought in advance.
For patients planning to maximize results by having regular treatments throughout the year, we offer a payment plan which can reduce the cost of treatment by up to 20%.
Other treatments
Depending on your requirements, you may also choose to consider Dermaroller therapy treatment, which works to stimulate skin rejuvenation.
Dermaroller can be used to help with a variety of skin conditions, as well as anti-ageing; and is suitable for the face and body.
